What a Studio 8 is?
Uprooted from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, Studio 8 is a group of young comedians and video wizards currently based in Austin and Los Angeles who work cheaply and quickly to produce maximum laughs for minimum dollars. Our website, Studio8.net, draws thousands of unique visitors every day to look at our 100% original content – articles, music, videos - you name it, it’s in there somewhere.
Our sketch comedy show was LSU’s highest rated on-campus TV show for the 2 years that it ran. In 2003, we printed up a wildly popular satire newspaper and produced Everything is Everything, a feature-length mockumentary that has been sold worldwide. We’ve also produced tons of short films, 4 feature-length scripts, 5 comedy albums, and printed up a book - all with embarrassingly miniscule budgets.
Our work has been featured on G4’s Attack of the Show, The Daily Reel, eBaum's World, Cracked.com, iFilm, Revver, Crackle, Metacafe, and into the darkest, furthest reaches of the internet. Some of our recent sketches were produced under an ongoing development deal with Break Entertainment (Break.com). Studio 8 has also recently been commissioned to produce promo videos for other websites like TrekPassions.com, TomGreen.com, and GamingPassions.com.
I've highlighted two very talented digital video producers this week...
My good friend Patrick recently turned me on to 599 Productions. They seem to have a penchant for time-lapse photography and have produced some wonderful videos from still photographs. They also have some cool music videos and short films on their site. Be sure to check out the 720p versions if you have the bandwidth and CPU. I've noticed that some of these videos are starting to appear on YouTube and so the word is getting around about 599 Productions.
I recently made friends with Taymar Pixley of PixleyFlix Productions. She started the Santa Barbara Indie Producer CoOp on Ning.com and has organized some great meet-ups and events for local media professionals. I think her site is a great example of what kind of information people are looking for when searching for creative professionals like Taymar. Today, we are featuring one of the posts for The Love Project. Check out their Surf Divas project too.
Enjoy!
