Intercuts scenes from the play "The Appellants", based on the case histories of Cypriot refugees and proposing sanctuary as a means of avoiding deportation, wit h documentary footage of the case of Katerina and Vassilis Nicola. The couple, who had been living and working in London since 1976, sought sanctuary in St. Mary's Church, Camden in February 1985.

Save Theatro Technis Campaign

The "Campaign to Save Theatro Technis" (1977) was supported by the BBC Open Door Programme at a time when the then-proposed building of the Maiden Lane Housing Estate by Camden Council meant that the theatre building which had been converted by unfunded volunteers from a disused railwayshed (with the Council's permission and encouragement) had just been completed, but was to be demolished to make way for the redevelopment.

The Trial of Mussolini is enormously relevant with its focus on
political morality.

In Foot's words the objective is to "underline afresh the
international character of war and how we must continue to resist
the reappearance of fascism".

Foot envisages the Italian dictator arrested by the British Army
and brought to London to stand trial. What looks like a closed
and shut case develops into something quite different the moment
several witnesses are brought in.

This video clip is of rehearsalso for the
first ever staged reading which was directed by award winning
documentary director Alfio Bernabei, author of "Dangerous
Characters" for Channel 4 and of a recent article in History
Today, "The London Plot to Kill Mussolini".

Theatro Technis Anniversary Celebration - 3rd May 2007 Part 1 of 4 - Arrivals 9min 22 sec Arrivals at Theatro Technis before the celebrations, beginning with a view of the building, then the founder of Theatro Technis George Eugeniou is seen greeting and speaking with the Mayoress of Camden and then with Greek Orthodox Archbishop Grigorios. Once inside the theatre space, arrival of the High Commissioner of Cyprus George Iacovou, and MP Jeremy Corbyn. Theatro Technis 50th Anniversary Celebration (2 of 4 parts) 56min 47 sec The anniversary celebration begins with a cameo-appearance by 'Dubya' hisself and a number of extracts from the Kubrik-inspired satire, "The Madness of George Dubya" which was devised and created at Theatro Technis by Justin Butcher with George Eugeniou's support. Release of "The Trial of Mussolini" Video due soon

The video of the world premiere performance of an adaptation of Cassius' "The Trial of Mussolini" is currently being prepared for release over the web on a Creative Commons License. Michael Foot, former leader of Britain's Labour Party during the Thatcher years, used that name to publish his book in 1943. Award-winning Channel 4 director, Alfio Bernabei has adapted a play from the book, and this was given its world premier 'Rehearsed Reading' within the context of Theatro Technis' 50th Anniversary celebrations on the 18th November 2007. This video is due to be released soon for free viewing over the web with the approval of Michael Foot, Alfio Bernabei and the cast involved in this production, under a Creative License, attribution, non-commercial use.
